# AN AMATEUR RADIO TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROJECT
#### Video Demo: <URL HERE>
#### Description:

Hi !

Let me introduce myself and describe my project.

My name is Bernard Pidoux, aged 76, I am living in Paris, France.
As a Medical Doctor Associate Professor in neuroscience at ** Sorbonne Université **, formerly ** Université Pierre et Marie Curie ** or Paris VI,
I specialized myself in brain functions and performed research in movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease.

My main hobby has been amateur radio since I was 16. Amateur radio is known as ** hamradio **.
I like to experiment digital telecommunications via radio and radioamateur satellites.
The project I am presenting on my webpage is a compilation of different web sites and some examples of software applications I wrote for my hobby.

## HAMRADIO WEB PAGE
Lets start with my radioamateur webpage on which I report telecommunications experiments through short wave radio.
My callsign is ** F6BVP ** (we pronounce it Fox Six Bravo Victor Papa !) and I obtained recently the callsign ** AI7BG ** from american FCC after succeeding to an extra level examination.
The menu gives access to official sites of Amateur Radio Relay League, AMateur SATellite, and to my Hamradio Homepage which reports a number of experiments, publications and software developments.

## PACKET RADIO
My second web page is dedicated to packet radio.
This is a digital communication mode using specific radioamaeur network protocoles such as AX25, NetRom, ROSE-FPAC.
There is a mirror page on [f6bvp.org] (http://f6bvp.org) at home on a RaspBerry Pi nano computer.
I am actually running four of them at home ! The operating system is Linux Raspbian OS.

I used to be the maintaner of a Bulletin Board System (BBS) software from years 2000 to 2020.
** Linfbb ** sources can be found on Sourceforge.
I am the maintainer of FPAC suite packet radio network applications hosted by Github.
FPAC relies on AX25 and ROSE Linux modules.
I committed some patches for these Linux modules.

Satellite tracking softwares are using satellite orbital elements in order to predict the orbits and time of visibility.
This is a list of some applications I wrote.
** Satupdat ** is a C application for pushing up-to-date orbital satellite elements into a BBS data base using bubble sorting for satellites names.
** Satdoc ** extracts satellite documentation and make it accessible from BBS.
** CRC ** checks validity of orbital elements files by computing Cyclic Redundancy Checksum for two different satellites elements formats.
** Serveur_TCP ** is a short Python application for interfacing satellite tracking software ** Gpredict ** and antenna rotators.

## RADIOTELESCOPE BLOG
I am writing this blog to introduce the project I started with a few guys from my radioclub.
We repaired an old 10m radiotelescope located at the Parc de la Villette in Paris.
It was designed for public astronomy demonstrations in 1986 but had been abandoned for 28 years until we offered to rescue it.
We repaired it and programmed software receivers and captured radio signals from the Galaxy, Crab Nebula, other radiosources and a pulsar.
We will use this big antenna to communicate via radio transmissions sent back and forth to the Moon.

## PROFESSIONAL BLOG
I started my professional web page in ** Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital physiology department ** around year 2000.
It gives access to my publications, bibliography and researxh topics.
Included are personnal videos sequences performed during surgical procedures for Parkinson's Disease.
They show deep brain recording of neurones using microelectrodes, amplifiers, computer.
Brain neurones exhibit * another kind of signal * usefull for precise target localization.
For that page I choosed to use the then new HTML5 standard to display video sequences in order to be compatible with most browsers available at that time.

Thank you for listening my project presentation.
